Libby Stevens is a Leesburg, Virginia pastellist and painting instructor. She works from the King Street Studios at 222
South King Street, Leesburg, Virginia, which also houses the Loudoun Academy of Art, where she teaches. Libby has shown her
work throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Northern California.
Libby moved to Leesburg in 1999, where she
resides in a restored, century-old house in the Leesburg Historic District, a short walk from her studio. She loves to capture
in the brilliant luminescence of pastel many of the charms of rural and historic Leesburg and environs.
She is
the third generation of her family to have become a painter. She grew up watching her maternal grandmother and mother create
oil paintings during summer vacations and remembers fondly the distinctive smell of fresh oil paintings in her grandmother's
West Texas studio.
